FDA Shrimp Refusals in May 2018

In May 2018, eight of 111 seafood entry lines (7.2%) refused by the USA Food and Drug Administration (FDA) were for imported shrimp that contained residues of banned antibiotics.  .

That makes 20 shrimp entry lines stopped by the FDA so far in 2018 due to antibiotics.

The antibiotic residues were from five countries: China, Hong Kong, India, the United Arab Emirates and Canada.

Nitrofurans residues were found in most of the shrimp, though one shipment from Hong Kong contained chloramphenicol residues.
